My Winmodem (PCTel HSP Micromodem, CM8738) has always worked better in Linux than in Windows. But yesterday it suddenly stopped working. It took me a full day to find a solution, but is so simple that I'm posting it for the benefit of others.
All I did was remove the modules and device files, and then recreate and reload. Duh! In my particular case: rmmod ptserial rmmod pctel rm /dev/ttyS15 /dev/modem mknod /dev/ttyS15 c 62 79 chgrp uucp /dev/ttyS15 chmod 666 /dev/ttyS15 ln -s /dev/ttyS15 /dev/modem insmod pctel insmod ptserial HTH someone. -- Warren Post Santa Rosa de Cop�n, Honduras http://srcopan.vze.com/ -- Warren Post Santa Rosa de Cop�n, Honduras http://srcopan.vze.com/
