hey mark thanks for your reply, heres the relavent part of my fstab file. as you can see the original entry using supermount is hashed out.. i have tried to use this other entry nut it doent work,
recieving error something like, no device in medium.
the supermount entry will not let me mount or umount cdrom saying input/output error
any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Could you post your fstab so's we can have a look at the line for your CDROM? I recall something being posted not too long ago about this very thing, and i'm hoping that seeing your fstab will jog my memory. While I await your response I'm going to ssh home and check my fstab file to see what it's entry is because it all works gorgeously for me.
