If I were you I'd go to MCC and alter grub to lilo graphical and do asWell I did as you recommended and switched to lilo graphical as my boot loader. I rebooted to make sure the changes I made took effect and that it works, which it does.

Now when I open a terminal as root, and type in /etc/lilo.conf permission is denied to /etc/lilo.conf. If root doesn't have permission how can I do anything with the file? What must I do to get permission to edit this file?
