Texstar has had problems with his mirrors intermittently over the last month or so. Also, different mirrors (for the other sources: main, contrib, etc.) will give you different speeds. I tried a few different ones before I found my best setup. Now I almost *never* have any probs. I should say though, I don't install a lot of Texstar stuff, since it is somewhat focused on KDE and I don't touch KDE with a ten foot pole.
