Guys, I'm confused now. Are you saying you can't (for example) ping by name a 
computer on your LAN? I can here....I can do:

ping darkforce
ping darkforce2
ping darkforce3

and it works fine. I don't have to do the IP address.

PS and what does fstab have to do with it?
