Original message attached. Yes, you can clean up a failed Mandrake install. Several ways to do that if you have a dual boot system.
Make sure that Windows XP is installed first and you may want to use a disk partitioning tool to resize the partition to make sure that there is enough room for Linux. Do the install with Mandrake Linux and go ahead and install the boot loader on the MBR. Mandrake should add a windows boot option in LILO that you can use to boot into Win XP. Now, if you need to remove Linux, simply remove the Linux partitions using Disk Manager in XP, then use your WinXP Install CD and boot from the CD. When you reach the screen that asks if you want to install or rescue an installation, choose to rescue the installation and go to the recovery console. From there, put your administrator password in to log into the Win XP partition and issue the command, FIXMBR from the command line. It will warn you that you are going to overwrite the MBR, go ahead and do it, you are simply removing LILO and replacing it with Windows Bootloader. Now, exit the console, the machine should reboot, remove the Win XP CD and you should boot right back into windows.

I have a question that may be a little touchy with
some. Is a Mandrake 9.1 install on a machine with XP doable? Will I have dual
boot as I do with my Windows ME machine?
I downloaded three versions of Linux that work
purely off the CD used to install - the box where I have the Windows XP
installed works with Morphix but NOT with Knoppix or SuSE - the question is

I see no "Uninstall" entry on the "Add/Remove" section in the control panel for
the Linux "addition".
