Hi, Johan.  I have seen this problem often with removable drives, but 
not on a cdrom.  Perhaps someone knows why, I don't.  Anyway, here is 
something that might help you until you find out why it's happening.

First, when you are in a system where the cdrom is working properly, 
copen /etc/fstab in a text editor, and save it as /etx/fstab.sav.

Next time you have a problem, if you open both files you will probably 
find that the line for your cdrom has been removed.  Copy the missing 
line into /etc/fstab.  Then open a console, and as root, type 'mount 
-a'.  That should then re-mount everything in your fstab - including 
the cdrom.
