       q - quit
       wq - save and exit
   

Because:
w - write, but you can continue editing
q - quit, without writing
ZZ does work, and since I've never used vi when I didn't have to, I 
remember the smallest set of commands I need.

 

Fair enough, I too will remember that one for another time.
