Do I understand you correctly that you are running imwheel in your
.xinitrc or .Xclients _and_ then opening an xterm and doing 'imwheel
-k' again?
Where does 'imwheel -k' appear? In one or more places?
What's in your .xinitrc or .Xclients?
Please post the 'Section "Pointer"' from your XF86Config file.
