OK THIS IS WHAT I MEAN by backspace.

  I want it to work JUST like the way it does in
Windows. If there is a character on the left side of
the cursor, I want it deleted. If the cursor is on the
utmost left side of the screen, i want it to go to the
previous line.

  And the emacs thing... how do I enable tab to do
auto indent ?
