I've had the same problem with a KDE theme. I don't recall which theme
caused it, else I'd report it.
The way to fix this problem is to remove the .kde directory in your home
directory:
rm -r ~/.kde
Restarting KDE should now work and you should be able to run whatever
you like.
If you figure out which theme caused the problem, post a message. We'd
all love to get rid of problems like this!
