This is true if you set the path in .bashrc

According to the docs (that i found somewhere) .bash_profile runs when you login, 
.bashrc runs whenever a terminal is opened.

In my case, it works just as advertised, but someone here had determined it worked 
differently for them.

So, if yours works like mine and like the docs say, you could set your path in 
.bash_profile (like i do) and it would work.  But, it won't change for new xterms w/o 
logging out or runing bash, etc.
