Hi

My old parallel port scanner is a no no with MDK according to all the
docs I have read and I did try it without success. So on to buying a new
one.

I have USB 2 interface and have heard that USB scanners work well with
xsane etc, but which one to buy?

Some recommendations would be welcomed as most/all of the scanners do
not have linux compatible notices on the box (some day this may happen).

Thanks

Peter

I recommend you only buy a scanner that somebody else here can testify to that it actually runs smoothly. I bought a AGFA snapscan which is supposed to be supported by SANE, but although i had a lot of help here and nearly tried everything, the thing still won't run. The thing is I upgraded to mdk 9.1 because of it. At least I got a better OS out of the whole thing...

Good luck!

Regards, Marco

I tend to agree.

On the sane website there are lists of so called "supported" scanners, but I have found from a limited degree of experience , it's personal recommendation that really counts.
To that end my epson perfection 2400 phot is excellent.
