So was I Maureen, only I have an Olympus C740UZ. When I plugged
the camera into the USB-port a new icon popped up (GTK-cam ?)
but clicking it produced nothing but this */* crap.

Here's a much easier way to download your pictures, I suppose
it'll work for a Kodak as well :

1. Connect the camera to the USB-port.
2. Switch the camera on with its *download* function activated.
3. Ignore the GTKam-icon if it pops up.
4. If you have *kdf* (K Disk Free) installed, run it, and
everything is obvious from here.
5. If not, open a konsole, su into root and type : mount
/mnt/camera. Probably (if you have supermount enabled, it's
already mounted, and it'll tell you so). Then, fire up a file
manager (Konqueror for example), navigate to /mnt/camera and
everything is available for download (or *move* , if you'll
empty the camera at once).
6. When done, turn off the camera, unplug it and enjoy.
