Hi all,

As a neophyte Linux user I have installed Linux-Mandrake 6.5. I have
managed to solve most of my initial problems except for two. When I run
sndconfig. I get the following message:

The following error occurred running the isapnp program:

Don't Know what to do the CONFIGURE CTL009c/269424204
(LD 0 on or around line 461 /etc/isapnp.conf:461 --Fatal Error- occurred
parsing config file--no action taken.

I have tried every combination on the manual config. No luck I have an
Creative Labs 32 pnp which Linux correctly identifies but now luck.

Any help?

Second I have been trying to configure xcdroast with no success. I have
a Mitsumi 4801 IDE/ATAPI cd burner. The xcdroast program only recognizes
my scsi cdrom but will not let me choose the writer. I have read the faq
and the manual pages. I see where I can configure the kernel to support
ATAPI as SCSI. But I can not get to the config screens as they suggest.
They suggest using make xconfig or make menuconfig. I type make xconfig
and get make is not a valid command. So I have no idea how to get the
kernel to recognize my ATAPI as a SCSI drive so I burn CD's again.

Thanks for reading my huge problem list and thanks in advance for any
advice.

Regards,

Tom Rowbotham
