make sure that there are no other network configurations active like
zeroconfig (though it shouldn't realy matter).

To check if the connection is working;
open a console window and type:

"ping ww.google.com" without the quotes though.

Output should look like this:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] triade]$ ping www.google.com
PING www.google.com (216.239.37.99) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 216.239.37.99: icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=149 ms
64 bytes from 216.239.37.99: icmp_seq=2 ttl=52 time=154 ms
64 bytes from 216.239.37.99: icmp_seq=3 ttl=52 time=156 ms

--- www.google.com ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2028ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 149.689/153.444/156.045/2.720 ms
[EMAIL PROTECTED] triade]$

If that don't work try pinging the adress directly (in the google case
216.239.37.99) thus:

"ping 216.239.37.99" again w/o the quotes:o)

If that does give you an output you're connecting OK only not resolving the
names. So make sure dhcp is configured in kppp.

If it does "zilch" it means there's no connection.
