Tried that before asking the list. Any idea where the mcc executable should 
live - perhaps its not installed...

mcc in a terminal works on my machine, I'm in kde, assumed you were too.

No, I don't know where the executable is, not even precisely what it is 
called,
I imagine it's part of the main mandrake install, very basic to system.

Seems to me it's going to be a reinstall job for you.It should be there, 
a link or something is missing.that's mu guess.
