Hello Anarky, (hmmm, I see that your Karma is rather.... how to put it ... neutral...)
> aaa :) another slashdot reader :P ... Yes, I often post there. Do you know Anonymous Coward? That's me! > >In any case, for about the same reasons, I may one day > >switch from Mandrake to the future Zynot distro, > > Gentoo's fork. > > what's so special about this future distro? What interests me foremost is that it is Gentoo. I have heard enough about Gentoo that I'd like to try it out know. With over two years Linux experience, I may be able to cope with the initial setup. Now, I am watching how this Gentoo fork is getting on (no release as yet). I was interested by the fact that Gentoo seem to lack of democracy and openness. http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/06/26/048221 http://www.zynot.org/info/fork.html The fork may have the technical advantages of Gentoo while having the Open, Democratic feel of Community project like Debian has. (The fork is as yet unnamed http://wiki.zynot.org/zynot/moin.cgi/ZynotName ) I am not in a hurry to make a decision and there's no guarantee that the new distro will get off the ground. So, I am with Mandrake for still many months to come.
