havn't kept up with this thread too entirely much, but to change the aRTs suspend time in KDE K Menu > Configuration > KDE > Sound > Sound System you'll see all the options there, including the option to 'autosuspend' arts for however many seconds you want it to or to just remove that option completely. i just found this the other day as i was having sound problems while playing DVDs.
