Actually, it is not ALL that surprising, some ISP's may be filtering some of 
those out and some of the spoofing that the virus does may cause some of the 
messages to be misidentified as spam by ISP mail servers.  Most do at least 
some rudimentary checking of the From header against the originating domain 
and if they don't match, the message doesn't get delivered.

I am kind of surprised that I didn't see more of these, I don't allow my ISP 
to do any filtering at all but it is possible that they are just still in the 
mail chain waiting to be delivered or that some intermediate ISP in the chain 
saw the traffic and took the spool offline to cleanse it before starting to 
route mail again.
