Femme:
Bullshit! Just because we drool a lot doesn't mean that we're totally
incompetent. Case in point: My wife (68) uses 9.1. She does e-mail, surfing,
shopping, travel reservations, banking, Solitaire and a bit of OpenOffice.
She gave up on downloading music when she learned that neither Lawrence Welk
nor Slim Whitman has done much since they died. After a short run through
when she got the system ("No dear, grammas.com is not a suitable support
group"), the only times that I've been involved since then was to fix an ISP
setting that I'd screwed up, replace the printer ink cartridges, set up pix
of the grandchildren as rotating wallpaper, and change KDE to use single
click instead of double click. Since then, I've been instructed to keep my
damn hands off of HER computer. It works, she's happy. Old toaster didn't
work, she wasn't happy and got a new one.

FWIW, her previous computer experience was doing receivables and payables on a
main frame, and then using one of Larry Ellison's NIC's for two years. (Why
that POS? Because she wanted it, that's why.)
