However, before I could paste the message result in this email, I copied the results from the mount command, thus losing the results of the tail command. SO, when I tried the tail command again and plugged in the memory stick, I got nothing. When I looked at the port to make sure the stick was plugged in, I noticed that it's not even getting power now (there's a light on it that should come on) and so I might have a hardware problem... Either way, it is definitely not creating /mnt/removable . Could it be an issue with Gnome? I'm using Gnome2.2 (How can I upgrade to 2.4? If you've got an extra minute to answer that one as well, that'd be great.)
