There are several ways to get to a command line with Linux. Once you
are booted into the GUI (in which you cannot see what you are doing),
you can press ALT+CTRL+F2 to get to a bash shell (command line), or
alternatively, you can start Linux at the LILO prompt by typing
"linux3" instead of just "linux" (without the quotes). This should
make Linux start in runlevel 3 rather than 5. In either case, you
will be presented with the login prompt, and I am sure that you can
take it from there. The default label for Linux in the LILO setup is
of course "linux". If you have edited the label for starting Linux,
then use that label with a "3" after it to start in runlevel 3.

I hope this helps,

Ernie
