Haven't tried 0.2 yet, still using 0.1, but Thunderbird should be using its own directory in your home directory - ~/.thunderbird . Mozilla has its own directory, ~/.mozilla so they shouldn't be sharing prefs and mail. Did you untar the downloaded tar.bz2 file into its own directory? For example create a directory like /usr/local/thunderbird and untar the file into that directory. I will download and install 0.2 today and let you know how I get on.
