The winmodems i used, occupied com4 and above, ie no physical device. Make sure the /dev/modem symlink points to the correct tty ttyS0 for Com1 .... Many dial up programs, like kppp uses /dev/modem instead of a tty (Well i saw in my 9. there's now a list of devices, but it _used_ to be like that a while ago) /Bj�rn
