Just an addendum on screem.
With the 0.8 branch screem switched to using the gtksourceview .lang
files to provides syntax highlighting.
Currently gtksourceview does not provide php.lang therefore does not
provide highlighting for php.
In my screem-0.8.2-0.1 build I did include, as an additional source, a
php.lang file, which with the installation of screem-0.8.2 is installed
in /usr/share/gtksourceview-1.0/language-specs allowing for php
highlighting.
This is not an official file, and because it actually should belong to
another pkg, will most likely not be included in the mdk screem release.
