Actually, though PDF is proprietory and Adobe can change the file internals any time it wishes it's also become ubiquitous so I suppose I'll just have to live with it. :-) My concerns with PDFs tend more to their usefulness as opposed to HTML/XML. In most cases they are little or no markups in them which means that flipping back and forth can often be an exercise in futility. Well designed and linked HTML, on the other hand, makes it easy to look up sidebars and such without the necessity of using the somewhat suspect indexing of PDFs. This is particularly true in tabbed browsers. What PDFs are useful for and needed for is the printing of a document in a familiar format (book). It's this they excel in. ttfn John
