Yes, and exactly what choice do you have in the matter? Standard disclaimers on MS's EULA limit them to total damages amounting the the price that you paid for the software and absolutely no more. They are immune from claims of incidental damages, fitness for purpose and even intentional negligence, your sole remedy is to return the software for a refund. Not sure that Mandrake, even were they a commercial software vendor who as putting out a proprietary package would be any different and in point of fact, they are putting out a package that, at least in the case of the downloadable ISO is free, and the only price that you pay is that you accept responsibility for installing it yourself. If you install software that does not come pre-packaged on your computer, you are taking your chances and that is true whether it is Microsoft or Linux. -- Bryan Phinney Software Test Engineer
