I'm surprised you didn't have more. Mandrake kernel 'src.rpm'
would'a built about a half dozen or more different kernels. Next
time, use the 'kernel-source' rpm. Altho, in this case, I believe
Thomas only furnishes the precompiled binary rpm, and the
'src.rpm'.

Correct, unless you want to use more than 860Mb of ram, you
don't need (or want) the 'enterprise' version. Use 'rpm -ivh' to
install kernel-tmb-2.4.22.12.tmb.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm. Use
'rpm -Uvh' if you also want to have source for the kernel installed
(kernel-tmb-source-2.4.22-12.tmb.1mdk.i586.rpm).
In light of the recent LG CDrom snafu, you should do a
'rpm -qpil kernel-tmb-2.4.22.12.tmb.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm |less'
and read the description. I'm sure it includes a warning that this
kernel version uses experimental kernel.org patches.
AFAIK, nobody's reported any problems tho. 'Course that was the
same deal with LG ;) I think there's also a newer version of
Thomas' kernel available built around kernel-2.4.22.21mdk-1-1mdk
