hi all

First of sorry to all if this post shows up twice. I had some problems with the list (guess lots of people did)

I just recently setup dual boot system with Win XP and MDK 9.1

It was working fine but due to my screwup i had to reinstall MDK 9.1 which i did fine.

I overwrite the windows boot sector i think.

My setup is as follows: 2 harddrives. Win XP installed on second one. Made a 10 mb partion on the first harddrive for the windows boot loader. Linux loads fine and in lilo it does have the options to boot into windows though if i try it says cannot find ntldr .

Is there a way to get windows boot loader back without having to reinstall win XP and then MDK again ?

The way i installed the first time was. XP onto second harddrive with a small partion on C: to the bootloader
and linux onto the first HD

These are my partitions:
/dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c 10MB
/dev/hda5 /
/dev/hda6 /home
/dev/hda7 /usr
/dev/hdb1 /mnt/win_c2 (the drive with XP installed)

i can read the windows HD fine if i mount it, but problems seems to be in that windows boot partion i made.

Any help appreciated

Tia

Hmm not sure if its ok to answer your own questions, but i am going to anyway just in case it helps someone else out :)

I booted from the Win XP CD and selected to do a repair of the windows install the installer found.

This installed XP and booted up fine and ofcourse removed the lilo boot.

To fix this i booted from MDK CD 1 (I use 9.1 Bamboo) and selected F1 for more options

At the boot prompt i typed rescue which brought up a menu with options to reinstall lilo or windows.

I selected to have it reinstall the lilo boot loader and everything works like a dream now :)

Regards

Casper
