SMP is multiprocessor and secure is a secure version that is usually only used for servers that are exposed and expected to be attacked. Secure is not bad, I run my web server on that kernel but it is secure and more difficult to work with than the regular kernel, everything is closed by default and you have to specifically open things up to get access to it. -- Bryan Phinney Software Test Engineer
