[EMAIL PROTECTED] boot]# mkinitrd -f initrd-2.4.21-0.13mdk.imgThis line should be:
vmlinuz-2.4.21-0.13mdk
mkinitrd -f initrd-2.4.21-0.13mdk.img 2.4.21-0.13mdk
I'm supposing that if I remove the bootsplash packages, I need to run the above in order to remake the /boot/initrd-2.4.21-0.13mdk.img file so that it knows how to boot without the gui stuff , is that it ?
Yes Greg, Your approach has been correct all along, thank you for staying with me.
In truth, I got confused, first the rather confusing package name, bootsplash.
I thought this was to do with the initial splash screen one gets on first appearance.
it might of been better named something like bootscript, or guibootscript, or something.
Then as we sorted that confusion out , the need to remake the initrd.image file after the removal of boot splash became more obvious. Do you think if I did this it would automatically remove the references to splash=quiet splash=verbose, and in
/etc/sysconfig/bootsplash the set SPLASH=no .or maybe it doesn't matter anyway ?
Thanks.
