I had a pen drive in a laptop a couple of days ago that I couldn't access via the gui, but I could rw via a root terminal so I didn't check the gui problem out, I just assumed I had a permissions problem. A /mnt/memorystick (I think it was, I don't have the laptop here) was created when I booted with the drive in place. You have tried a root terminal???? e
