You might like yet another way to search manpages: if you like to use KDE and/or Konqueror (I don`t, I use IceWM and Firebird), you could start Konqueror, type in the location bar:

man:programme_name

and press the `Find` icon and enter whatever your looking for.

Yes, I found that yesterday. I do like it, but I don't like to be dependent upon only gui tools, that just isn't me, and so it was the CL means that most interested me. At last I know a few bits and pieces to ensure I can use the CL to search properly.
