I had a similar problem (actually several problems). I recently upgraded from 9.1 to 9.2 and changed my mobo/processor. I wasn't sure what was causing the problem as everything worked fine with 9.1 and the old mobo. Anyway, the only way I got my system to work was to upgrade the kernel to 2.6 and load the latest Alsa drivers. I'm not sure what finally fixed everything, but now I can record. Good luck.
