I assume you have postfix/qmail or similar set up properly. You need that to get this mailthing done.
In the config for postfix (which I use), /etc/postfix/main.cf, you need to have your local machine name as a valid domain (docs inside the file are very good).
Do you send mail to "user"? If that does not arrive, try "[EMAIL PROTECTED]".
