Everyone probably knows this already, but just in case:-

I have only just installed Mandrake 9.2
This is a clean install, not an upgrade. */home* remained unformatted from
9.1, while */* and */usr* were both formatted.

My systems don't run Supermount. This application slows my systems down
incredibly and that could have something to do with having a floppy drive
which the system takes longer to read when no disk is in the drive. Even
longer still when a disk is in residence.

But on the occasion of 9.2, disable -i supermount gave me an error message as
did using the -f switch and anything else I tried.

So I wrote the /etc/fstab file manually which is fine, just more time
consuming, but strangely my KwikDisk utility did not register that a
partition was mounted by the indicator of the space remaining on that
partition.

So I looked in /etc/mtab and discovered that the devices were written
differently to the /etc/fstab file, eg,

In the /etc/fstab the device was written:- /dev/hda12 /mnt/documents ext3 and
so on.

In the /etc/mtab the device was written:-
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part12 /mnt/documents ext3 and so on

Using this new device name to the /etc/fstab file, made the KwikDisk
utility work as it always has in the past and as it should.

Hope this helps someone.
Charlie.
