Well Steve, in that case your C "drive" will be /dev/hda , and your
E "drive" will be /dev/hdb (assuming you have a D "drive" on your
first harddisk). Only concern is, that Western Digital drives has a
very bad reputation in the *free* world. Maxtor is OK.

Yes, install Linux on your E "drive" (which actually is your second
hard drive and thusly /dev/hdb). Why on earth do you want to go
into the BIOS every time you want to boot an operating system ?
 
If you just install i.e. *lilo* when prompted, you'll have the
choice of installing it to i.e. the Master Boot Record (MBR) of
your first hard disk, and that way you'll get the choice : boot
Windows, DOS, CP/M, OS/2, Linux... or whatever you have available.
 
And Steve : PLEASE remove the "reply to :" field in your mail
program. That way our replies go to the list instead of your
private mailbox.
