Kaj, I have tried, but ImageMagic outside X cannot work. It is (as it says in the package's info) "An X application for displaying and manipulating images". How are you able to force it to work outside X enviroment?
I apologise for not being precise enough. What I'm looking for is a CLI application for viewing images that can work without X enviroment.
