That's OK, you seem to read and answer to this list on almost as many boxes as I sometimes do. <g> I'm sure Slack Ware modifies the "Vanilla" kernel to at least the same extent that Mandrake and all other distributions do, so I'm also certain there are incompatibilities between all of those distributions' kernels. That would explain the numbering differences. Don't forget to that a lot of the security fixes from various newer kernel versions can be ported back to the "older" versions in order to maintain consistency for releases. Not to mention the differences between .deb and .rpm.
