Try using smart boot manager for funny boots, i.e. recalcitrant BIOS'es.
I always keep a floppy handy...you never know. It's a fine rescue disk for 
hosed mbr's and such too:)

I've got mine from the Slackware9.1 CD but if you google for "smbootmgr.dsk" 
you'll find it. It's only a 108Kb big and can be put to floppy using "dd".
