"Everybody" doesn't seem to include *me* at the moment...I feel like some sort of outcast... :-(

That's priceless, Margot ;-) Glad it sorted, though
Anne
...but it *isn't* sorted - I can still only shut down cleanly from a terminal, as root - me-as-user is not included in "Everybody"!
Any ideas on where to look next?
Margot
Sorry - misunderstood. Try UserDrake, select your own account, groups, and add yourself to the group
Anne
In Userdrake, user 'margot' is already shown as a member of all available groups except 'nogroup' and 'root'.
However, in Kcontrol - System Administration - Login Manager - Sessions - Allow Shutdown there is a choice of "Everybody", "Only root", or "Nobody". It is currently set to "Everybody", but still only root can shut down. User 'margot' is apparently not part of this "Everybody"!
Somewhere there must be a file I can edit to include myself in KDE's version of "Everybody" - either that, or rename the file to "Everybody except Margot" to reflect reality!
