I've gone from release to release once or twice in the past by just using urpmi --auto-select. You could establish a cooker mirror source, and then get the hdlists (urpmi.update -a) and autoselect upgrades to all the packages you already have installed, and apart from the kernel, you'd have most of what 10.0 rc1 is.
