I am trying to update my system so that I can update KDevelop. It tells me I need to update autoconfig and automake. Autocongig installs perfectly, however, automake gives the following error.

cd . && perllibdir=/root/tmp/automake-1.8.2/lib:./lib /root/tmp/automake-1.8.2/aclocal --acdir=m4
/bin/sh: line 1: /root/tmp/automake-1.8.2/aclocal: No such file or directory
make: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 127
I am new to Linux, what is missing? What do I need to tweek to get it to install?
