"Microsoft's global antitrust woes expanded to Asia on Thursday when officers of
Japan's Fair Trade Commission raided the company's Tokyo office as part of an
investigation into Microsoft's deals with computer makers.

The world's largest software maker also is approaching a showdown with European
regulators who are deciding what actions to take against Microsoft for violating
European Union antitrust laws.

On Thursday, Japan's FTC said it is investigating Microsoft's licensing
agreements with Japanese computer makers. The commission suspects Microsoft
violated the country's anti-monopoly law by imposing unfair conditions on such
deals, forcing PC makers to agree not to sue Microsoft for patent infringement
even if Microsoft introduces technology that competes with theirs."
