Marc, try your CD1 in boot up and hit F1 and type rescue and enter then select 
reinstall boot loader. If that fails try the CD1 and at the first screen 
select "install" and then when it asks click on Upgrade. Select no packages 
and it will run through the process quickly and at the end it will or should 
set up your boot loader which you can check at the last screen. Any missing 
files will be installed then too. 
If either of the above don't work, then I am stumped. HTH
