Don't know if this answers your question, but I set up kppp as a regular user
since I try to do most of my on-line stuff as not root. The only thing I have
noticed with kppp is that it does not save my user name or my ISP password even
though I have the checkbox checked (for saving the password). As a result, I
have to enter this information each time I log onto the internet, but it is
only a minor inconvenience.
If yoy start kppp, then select the "setup" button, the acounts dialog will
appear. Select the account for your internet connection, and then the "edit"
button. In the dialog that pops up, select the DNS tab, and enter the needed
information there. Maybe kppp is removing the DNS information from your
resolve.conf because this information is not in kppp?
