Ok I'll try Mandrake has called the video chip ? SIS 650 resolution 1024 X 768 I have tried various resolutoins and colour settings I'm not sure what the colour setting was as set by mandrake but I have tried all that are multiples of 8 as I read somewhere of this being a requiremnet of this video setup I have tried Xfree 4.3 and 3.3.6 Now all I get is the message after running the config program " unable to determine screen layout try changing some parameter " The end result is that the screen has verticle lines of various colours .
