If I remember correctly, they are boot record save files. Not real
usefull unless you want to uninstall lilo.

Is this a problem? I still have installed the 14 kernel src as well as
the newer 15 kernel src and the file /usr/src/linux is slinked to the
newer kernt which will be the new default.
This link is changed to reflect the kernel you booted with. It should
always point to the currently running kernel .h file.
