He's going to try it when he gets back home, but is still VERY nervous about not having the illusory M$ crutch. Despite all the troubles he's had with XP, as a super-newbie he still views it as safer. The key to getting him to try it was to tell him how to back up everything in case he needs to reinstall XP.
